Our Film Festival Benefit on Sunday was a qualified success. Though the weather was against us and we had a small turnout we raised almost $1,000 for the Earthquake Relief Fund. You can still donate via the link on the festival website.
Please read the following text from our Country Rep regarding disposition of the funds:
We have posted the full list of all the suggestions to the jetaausa website, here: http://www.jetaausa.com/fund/suggestions/
To ensure that everyone has the appropriate amount of time to research and choose we have altered the timeline a little bit. We are going to extend the deadline for voting on phase 2: “narrowing down the list”. Each chapter will vote for their top 3 choices from the full list. We encourage chapter executive officers to circulate the entire list to their members, so that the chapter vote is aligned. We will be sending a survey link on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 for the chapter presidents to fill out and submit to the country representatives and the survey will be due Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:59 PST
Once we have our top three, the final phase will begin—voting for the recipient. We will send another survey link to the chapter officers by Tuesday, April 5, 2011 to submit to their country representatives by Monday, April 11, 2011.
We will announce the recipient of the JETAA USA Relief Fund on Wednesday, April 13, 2011.

Please send me your suggestions for the final recipient of the money JETAA USA collects per the above schedule.

The Kansas City Japanese School has organized a Japan disaster relief fundraising event for this Saturday, April 2nd!
You won’t want to miss this fun way to help out those in need.
* Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
* Location: 7401 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park (NE corner of Metcalf & 74th)
* Japanese food, bake sale, silent auction, “HELP JAPAN” wristbands, face paint and more!
* Great music: Japanese drumming, jazz, classical music trio and Sam Billen!
The current estimate for reconstruction is $300 billion, please do what you can to help.

We are investigating the possibility of holding our Children’s Day Event with the JAS on April 30. Please watch for more info.
This year’s Q&A Seminar will be June 17 and 18. We need the usual volunteers and additional help from recent returnees for a Handbook update.
